DIESELING, RUN-ON
Definition: Engine continues to run after key is turned “OFF,” but runs very roughly. If engine
runs smoothly, check ignition switch and adjustment.

CHECK IGNITION SYSTEM FOR:

Properly functioning (advancing and retarding of timing) Ignition Control (IC).
Correct heat range spark plugs.
Proper operation of system relay.
CHECK COOLING SYSTEM FOR:

Faulty or incorrect thermostat.
Cooling system restriction causing overheating.
Loose belts.
