LACK OF POWER, SLUGGISH OR SPONGY
Definition: Engine delivers less than expected power. Little or no increase in speed when
throttle control is moved toward Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
PRELIMINARY CHECKS
Perform the careful visual/physical checks as described at the start of “Troubleshooting Charts”
section.
Remove flame arrestor and check for dirt, or for being plugged. Replace as necessary.
CHECK FUEL SYSTEM FOR:

Dirty or plugged water separating fuel filter.
Contaminated fuel
Possible open in injector driver CKTs 467 or 468.
Improper fuel pressure.
Flooded VST (if equipped)
CHECK IGNITION SYSTEM FOR:

Proper initial engine timing.
Secondary ignition voltage.
Proper operation of Ignition Control (IC)/Knock Sensor (KS),open or short to ground in CKT 423
or 485 will set a DTC 42 or 43.
