MERCARB 2 BARREL CARBURETOR

SERVICE MANUAL NUMBER 24

Installation

Thoroughly clean gasket surfaces and install new gaskets.

Place new carburetor base gasket on intake manifold.

Install carburetor and secure with nuts and washers. Torque to 132 lb-in. (15 Nm).

If fuel inlet filter nut was disturbed, remove, clean all threads with brush and carburetor

cleaner or Quicksilver Leveler, and replace.

Connect fuel line to fuel inlet filter nut. Hold filter nut with wrench, tighten fuel line fitting

securely.

Connect electric choke wires to choke cover.

Install throttle cable. Refer to SECTION 2.

Install flame arrestor, crankcase ventilation and PCV hose.

Reconnect battery cables to battery.

Ensure that water is supplied to cooling system.

Start engine.

Check for gasoline leaks. If leaks exist, STOP ENGINE IMMEDIATELY and recheck

connections.

Adjust idle speed and idle mixture.
