SERVICE MANUAL NUMBER 24

While compressing valve spring install oil seal in lower groove of valve stem. Ensure

seal is not twisted. A light coating of oil will help prevent twisting.

a - Valve Spring Compressor (J-8062)

Install valve locks (grease may be used to hold them in place) and slowly release tool.

Ensure locks seat properly in upper grooves of valve stem.

Check installed height of valve springs using a narrow, thin scale. Measure from spring

seat to top of valve spring, as shown.
