Connect battery cables to battery by FIRST connecting positive (+) battery cable
(usually RED) to positive (+) battery terminal. Tighten clamp securely. Then, connect
negative (–) battery cable (usually BLACK) to negative (–) battery terminal. Tighten
clamp securely.
NOTE: Spray terminals with a battery connection sealant to help retard corrosion.
FUEL SUPPLY CONNECTIONS
WARNING
Be careful when working on fuel system. Gasoline is extremely flammable and
highly explosive under certain conditions. Do not smoke or allow spark or open
flame in area. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
WARNING
Avoid gasoline fire or explosion. Improper installation of brass fittings or plugs into
fuel pump or fuel filter base can crack casting and/or cause a fuel leak.

Connect fuel line to appropriate location as shown. Refer to the following caution for
proper tightening.
CAUTION
Remove plastic plug from fuel inlet hole. Apply #592 Loctite Pipe Sealant with Teflon
to threads of fuel inlet line connector. DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE. To prevent
cracking the casting and/or fuel leaks, turn inlet connector in by hand until finger
tight, then tighten connector to 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 turns with wrench. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN. Inspect for fuel leaks when first starting engine.
