5.0l / 305 cid / 5.7l / 350 cid ENGINES

IMPORTANT: Insert three rubber bumpers in Alpha coupler before installation on fly-

wheel.

Insert three rubber bumpers in Alpha coupler before installation on flywheel.

a - Rubber Bumper (Alpha Coupler Only)

b - Coupler

Install drive coupler or drive plate. Torque bolts to 35 lb-ft (48 Nm).

Install flywheel housing and related parts. Torque bolts to 30 lb-ft (41 Nm).

Install flywheel housing cover. Torque bolts to 80 lb-in. (9 Nm).

Install transmission (MIE). Torque bolts to 50 lb-ft (68 Nm).

Install engine.

Rear Main Oil Seal

The rear crankshaft oil seal can be replaced without removing the oil pan or rear main bear-

ing cap from engine.

Removal

Remove the flywheel.

Remove seal by using a screwdriver to pry it out of the seal retainer as shown.
