Connect and adjust shift cable(s).
IMPORTANT: Velvet Drive Transmission Warranty is jeopardized if the shift lever pop-
petballorspringispermanentlyremoved,iftheshiftleverisrepositionedorchanged
in any manner, or if remote control and shift cable do not position shift lever exactly
as shown.

Refer to SECTION 2C and check engine final alignment as outlined.

After final engine and coupler alignment has been properly set (with boat in the water),
connect propeller shaft coupler to transmission output flange. Attach couplers together
with bolts, lockwashers and nuts. Torque to 50 lb. ft. (68 N·m).
IMPORTANT: Be certain to torque trunnion clamping fasteners on engine mounts
(port and starboard) which were loosened during removal.
IMPORTANT: All coupler bolts must be SAE Grade 8 (Metric Grade 10.9) or better, with
a shoulder (grip length) long enough to pass through the face mating plane of cou-
plers.

If previously removed, install transmission fluid cooler and hoses. Torque hose fittings
at cooler and transmission housing to 25 lb. ft. (34 N·m).

Refill transmission with specified fluid. Refer to “Filling Transmission.”
Connect battery negative cable. Tighten clamp securely.
Check for leaks and check fluid level after first engine start-up.
