Remove flame arrestor.
Clean flame arrestor in solvent. Blow dry with compressed air.
Clean crankcase ventilation hoses in solvent. Blow dry with compressed air.
Inspect crankcase ventilation hoses for cracks or deterioration, and replace if
necessary.

Install flame arrestor and related components.
Tighten flame arrestor locknuts securely.
Serpentine Drive Belt
Component Location
WARNING
Avoid possible serious injury. Make sure engine is shut off and ignition key is
removed before inspecting belt.
IMPORTANT: MIE ENGINES ONLY: The brackets and washers on the 3 idler pulleys
must be in a certain order or the belt will come off of the serpentine belt. All pulleys
are referenced as though you were standing in front of the engine looking at the belt.

Upper Right Idler Pulley Bracket Stud: Stud is threaded into the cylinder head. Going out
fromthecylinderheadisanut,aflatwasher,theliftingeyebracket,theoilcoolerbracket,
the idler pulley bracket and then a nut.

Upper Left Idler Pulley Bracket Bolt: Going out from the cylinder head is an idler pulley
bracket, a flat washer, the heat exchanger bracket, a flat washer and the head of the bolt.
Lower Idler Pulley Bracket Bolt: Going out from the cylinder block is an idler pulley brack-
et and then the head of the bolt.
