If the piston seal is not pre-cut, make a diagonal cut/separation as shown.

Install the O-ring in the O.D. groove in the piston.
Install the piston seal over the O-ring.
Install the snap ring on the shaft.
Make sure the snap ring is fully seated in its groove.
Install the O-ring onto the shaft.
Slide the O-ring down to the snap ring.
Slide the piston onto the shaft. Secure the piston with a snap ring.
Ensure the snap ring is fully seated in its groove.
