Discard o-rings and retain the other parts.

Position retaining ring so that ring end is 1 in. (25 mm) from end of hole in housing.
Support housing in press and push down on end plate to remove tension on retaining
ring

Insert awl into hole in housing to push ring from recess.
Use a screwdriver to remove retaining ring and end plate.
