MAINTENANCE
Inspection

Inspect drive belt for the following:
Excessive wear
Cracks
•
NOTE: Minor, transverse cracks (across  the belt width) may be acceptable. Longitudinal
cracks (in direction of belt length) that join transverse cracks are NOT acceptable.

Glazed surfaces

Removal

Loosen alternator attaching bolt.
Loosen tension bolt retainer nut.
Loosen tension bolt.
Move alternator to relieve tension on drive belt.
IMPORTANT: If a belt is to be reused, it should be installed in the same direction of
rotation as before.

If belt is to be reused, mark direction of rotation.
Remove belt.
Installation
1.

Install drive belt on pulleys.
Position tension bolt into idler pulley bracket.
Tighten tension bolt until belt is taut.
