SERVICE MANUAL NUMBER 30

496 CID (8.1L)

Installation

Align flywheel housing onto guide dowels on engine.

IMPORTANT: Flywheel housing bolts must be installed in same location as removed.

Install 2 studs and 4 bolts.

Torque to 30 lb-ft. (41 Nm).

Install power steering cooler, hoses and other components removed previously.

MCM Coupler / MIE Drive Plate

Removal

Remove flywheel housing.

Remove 6 bolts and lockwashers fastening coupler to engine.

Typical Coupler Mounting

a - Coupler

b - Bolts (1 Hidden)

Inspection

Inspect splines in drive plate or coupler for wear.

Inspect drive plate or coupler for warping.

Replace as necessary.
