Rear Main Oil Seal

The rear crankshaft oil seal can be replaced without removing the oil pan or rear main bear-

ing cap from engine.

Removal

Remove seal by using a screwdriver to pry it out of engine block.

IMPORTANT: Do not nick or gouge the engine block or rear main bearing cap sealing

surface. Protect end of crankshaft and crankshaft/seal running surface from dam-

age, also.

Cleaning and Inspection

Clean crankshaft/seal running surface and seal retainer.

IMPORTANT: Correct rotation oil seal must be used to prevent oil leak.
