SERVICE MANUAL NUMBER 30

Installation

Install three 5/16-18 x 5 in. bolts in camshaft bolt holes, then lubricate camshaft bearing

journals with engine oil.

b - 5/16-18 x 5 in. Bolts

Lubricate camshaft lobes with General Motors Cam and Lifter Prelube or equivalent.

Install camshaft. Be careful not to damage bearings.

Install camshaft retainer.

Install timing chain.

Install front cover, valve lifters, lifter restrictors and lifter restrictor retainer.

Install all other components removed in the repair process.

Fill crankcase oil.

Fill closed cooling system.

Supply a sufficient water supply to the engine.

Start engine and check for leaks.
