Water Circulating Pump
Removal

Drain engine coolant system.
Remove water circulating pump pulley using either a or b:
a. Using tool J-41240 to prevent rotation, remove pulley bolts.
b. With drive belt installed to prevent rotation, remove pulley bolts.
IMPORTANT: If a belt is to be reused, it should be installed in the same direction of
rotation as before.

Remove drive belt.
Remove dual idler pulley bracket.
Loosen hose clamps on water circulating pump and heat exchanger.
Remove heat exchanger and crossover.

Inspection

Inspect for cracks or wear in water pump body.
Inspect pulley shaft for out of round or bent position.
Inspect sealing surfaces for cuts, scratches or debris.
Clean sealing surfaces on pump and block.
