CLOSED COOLING
Crossover
Removal
1.
Drain closed cooling system.
2.
Loosen retainer bolts.
3.
Loosen female hex fastener on heat exchanger strap.
Remove heat exchanger retaining strap.
Remove heat exchanger.

Remove thermostat retainer.
7.
Remove thermostat.
8.
Remove hose from reservoir.
9.
Remove harness connection to water temperature sender and sensor.
Loosen hose clamp on water pump bypass hose.
Loosen hose clamp on water inlet hose.

Remove 2 bolts and gasket from crossover connections at the cylinder heads. Retain
bolts and gaskets.
13.
Lift crossover from engine.
Inspection

Inspect sealing surfaces for cracks, cuts and wear.
Inspect pipe plugs for cracks.
Inspect hose connections for wear and debris.
Inspect heat exchanger pads for wear.
Inspect gaskets for wear.
Ensure that sealing surfaces are clean.
