INSTRUMENTATION
Speedometer
TESTING
IMPORTANT: When testing speedometer gauge for accuracy, the air supply used for
the test must be regulated to the specified air pressure. Do not apply excessive air
pressure to speedometer gauge.
1.
Apply air pressure directly to speedometer gauge (specified in chart) and note gauge
reading. Light tapping of pressure gauge is required during accuracy check.
2.
If gauge readings are not within specifications, gauge is defective.

Connect a service tachometer to engine and compare readings.
Replace if not within specifications.

Gauge Replacement

Disconnect battery cables from battery.
Remove wires from back of gauge.
Remove hoses (vacuum, speedometer gauge).
Disconnect light socket.
Remove holding strap and remove gauge.
Position gauge assembly in appropriate mounting hole.
Install holding strap and nuts. Tighten nuts evenly and securely.
IMPORTANT: Do not distort case or bracket by overtightening.

Connect ground (BLACK) wire to ground terminal, if gauge is not mounted in metal
panel.
9.
Connect other wires to gauge as shown in SECTION 4E.
Connect hoses (vacuum, speedometer gauges).
Install gauge light socket.

Coat all terminals with Quicksilver Liquid Neoprene.
Reconnect battery cables to battery.
