PRODUCT INFORMATION
ACCESSORY BATTERY CONNECTION
WARNING
An optional accessory battery charge kit is available to al-
low the charging system to charge the cranking and acces-
sory batteries at the same time. See your Dealer to order
and install this kit (P/N 5006253).
Keep the battery connections clean, tight, and
insulated to prevent their shorting or arcing and
causing an explosion. If the battery mounting sys-
tem does not cover the connections, install cov-
ers. Check often to see that connections stay
clean and tight.
IMPORTANT: The accessory battery connection must only
be used to charge a single 12-volt battery or two 12-volt
batteries wired in parallel. The accessory connection must
not be used to charge either battery in a 24-volt system.
WATER PRESSURE
An optional water pressure gauge is recommended to
monitor cooling system pressures. Noticing changes in wa-
ter pressure can help prevent engine overheating. The wa-
ter pressure gauge must be connected at the correct point
to ensure the most accurate pressure readings. Follow the
installation instructions included with the water pressure
gauge.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use wing nuts on battery connec-
tions even if they came with the battery. Wing nuts can
loosen and cause errant warning signals or electrical sys-
tem damage.

Service
Before servicing the battery or the outboard, remove both
battery cables from the battery, battery negative (–) cable
first. Keep metal objects from contacting either battery
post.

Water pressure port (starboard)
IMPORTANT: Service electrical components only while
the outboard is NOT running. Be careful when identifying
positive and negative battery cables and posts.
WARNING
Battery electrolyte is acidic — handle with care. If
electrolyte contacts any part of the body, immedi-
ately flush with water and seek medical attention.
Do not use a booster battery and jumper cables to
start the outboard. Gasoline fumes can cause
explosion and fire, resulting in property damage,
personal injury or death.

OWNER OF A 2010 E-TEC 130 HP ON A WELD-CRAFT 18 FT BASS BOAT. A TOTAL WASTE OF GOOD MONEY. E-TEC IS THE WORST MOTOR ON THE MARKET. MINE OVERHEATS AND HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MANY TIMES. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD TOW LINE IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY ONE.
