NOTICE
Four Winns does not limit you to this specific
navigational package mentioned above. There
are many navigational systems on the mar-
ket today. You may desire to use a different
system based on your needs, personal prefer-
ence, and mounting space available.
Avoid knocking or pulling the clip or lanyard
from the switch during regular boating opera-
tion. Occupants may be thrown forward or
possible engine damage may occur by the
sudden loss of engine power.
K. Alarm Systems
NOTICE
Four Winns continually strives to improve its
products. Unit specifications, including stan-
dard and optional equipment are constantly
being modified. Equipment availability is also
subject to change. The most current and
accurate information available at the time of
publication is included in this manual. Some
variation in equipment, description, location,
and details can result.
Engine alarm systems are standard. The alarm is
audible and is actuated by various engine sensors.
The sensors monitor such things low oil pressure, high
water temperature levels and high exhaust manifold
temperatures. Consult your engine owner’s manual for
informa tion regarding the specific systems monitored
by the alarm.
L. Compass
A compass is standard on the H310 models. The
compass can provide directional information when
operating offshore, in unfamiliar waters, or in adverse
weather conditions.
NOTICE
These devices are only an aid to navigation.
Their accuracy can be affected by many fac-
tors including equipment failure or defects, en-
vironmental conditions, and improper handling
or use. It is the user’s responsibility to exercise
common prudence and navigational judge-
ment. These devices should not be relied upon
as a sole means of navigation nor as a substi-
tute for such prudence and judgement.
The compass must be properly calibrated after all
personal equipment is installed including all electronics
(radio, depth sounder, etc.). DO NOT rely on the
compass readings until initial adjustment (compensa-
tion) has been performed. If the boat has a factory-
installed compass, the manufacturer’s instructions are
provided in the owner’s packet. Most areas have local
companies that specialize in compass adjustment.
If unsure of the proper compensation techniques,
consider having the adjustment done professionally
to ensure accuracy and confi dence in the compass.

NOTICE
During use, keep all extraneous metal objects
away from the compass. The close proximity of
metal objects (e.g., beverage cans) can cause
compass deviation.
