Starting the engine
Starting. Instrument panel with
ignition lock
WARNING! Never use start spray or similar to
start the engine. Danger of explosion!

If the engine is cold: Disconnect the gear shift
function and move the control lever forwards to
half throttle.
WARNING! Make sure that the gear shift func-
tion is disconnected.
If the engine is warm: Move the control lever to
the neutral/idling position.

Insert the key in the ignition switch. Turn key to
the ”I” position. The three warning lamps come on
and can be tested.
Check that the acoustic alarm is operating by
pressing the ”Alarm Test” button.
Turn key to the ”II” position. The indicator light
comes on and the glow plugs are connected to pre-
heat the engine. Let the glow plugs remain
activated for 10 seconds (max. 30 seconds).
IMPORTANT!Alwayspre-heattheengine
(even when it is warm).

Turn key to the ”III” to start. Release the key as
soon as the engine has started, the key will
automatically spring back to the ”I” position.
IMPORTANT! If the starter motor is engaged
for its maximum engagement time (20-30
seconds) let it cool down for five minutes
before trying to start the engine again.
5.
Warm up the engine at low speed and low load.
IMPORTANT! Do not race the engine while it
is cold.
