Manual Release Valve
TILTING AND TRIM ADJUSTMENT
If needed, the outboard will tilt up or down – MANUAL TILT
manually, using the manual release valve.

Some boat/outboard/propeller com-
binations may encounter boat insta-
bility and/or high steering torque
when operated at high speed at or
near the outboard’s angle adjust-
ment limits (full bow-up or bow-
down). Boat stability and steering
torque can also vary due to chang-
ing water conditions. If any adverse
conditions occur, reduce throttle
and/or adjust outboard angle adjust-
ment trim angle to maintain control.
If you experience boat instability
and/or high steering torque, see
your dealer to correct these condi-
tions.

Turn the manual release valve counter-
clockwise, slowly (about 3 1/2 turns), until
it lightly contacts its retaining ring.
Reposition the outboard.
Tighten the manual release valve to hold
the outboard in its new position.

If the bow of the boat plows the
water at high speeds, the boat may
bow steer or spin suddenly, possi-
bly ejecting or otherwise seriously
injuring occupants.

IMPORTANT: Use the tilt grip to tilt your out-
board.
Tilt UP: Move tilt/run lever to TILT position.
