OILING SYSTEM
FILLING THE OIL TANK
Remove the filler cap and fill the tank with rec-
ommended outboard lubricant, as specified in
Oil Requirements on page 18. Replace the
filler cap and tighten securely.
Always keep a supply of oil in the tank. If you
run the tank empty, you MUST purge the oil
system of air before using the engine.
If the “LOW OIL” warning light illuminates,
you have approximately five hours of normal
operation before running out of oil when us-
ing TC-W3RL oil. If using Evinrude/Johnson
XD100™ oil, you have approximately ten
hours of normal operation remaining. Refill
the oil tank at next convenient opportunity.
PRIMING THE OIL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: Always “top off” your oil tank
prior to prolonged usage or long trips.
IMPORTANT: To avoid engine damage from

tion is airtight. Anytime the oil supply hose has
been disconnected, you must prime the oil
system to remove any air in the system before
operating the outboard.
Squeeze oil primer bulb until steady stream of
oil comes from the supply hose. Connect oil
supply hose to the oil inlet fitting. Secure with
the small clamp (13.8 mm) from owner’s kit.
If the oil hose is disconnected for any reason,
seal it to prevent spillage. Install a cap on the
hose fitting to prevent contamination.
You must use an oil tank equipped with a filter
and an oil supply hose. The oil system must
be purged if air is in the oil supply hose. Refer
to Priming the Oil System on page 17.
