TREATMENT OF SUBMERGED
MOTOR
If the outboard motor is submerged, imme-
diately take it a Yamaha dealer. Otherwise,
some corrosion may begin almost immedi-
ately.
If you cannot immediately take the outboard
motor to a Yamaha dealer, follow the proce-
dure below in order to minimize engine
damage.

Thoroughly wash away mud, salt, sea-
weed, etc. with fresh water.

Remove the spark plug(s), then face
the spark plug holes downward to allow
any water, mud or contaminants to
drain.

Drain the fuel from the carburetor, fuel
filter and fuel line. Drain the engine oil
completely.
Fill the sump with the fresh engine oil
as the same quantity as the engine oil
capacity.
Engine oil capacity:
Refer to SPECIFICATIONS, Page 4-1.

Feed engine fogging oil or engine oil
through the carburetor(s) and spark
plug hole(s) while cranking the engine
with the manual starter or emergency
starter rope.
Take the outboard motor to a Yamaha
dealer as soon as possible.

Do not attempt to run the motor until it
has been completely inspected.
