Connecting an accessory battery (option)
1)
Remove the accessory battery coupler
cover from the outboard motor.
2)
Connect
the
accessory
battery
coupler1 to the coupler of the acces-
sory battery lead (option).
Use a connecting cable between the (-) ter-
minals of the starting battery and accessory
battery. See the illustrations of the wiring
connections. This cable must be made from
wire
thicker
than
the
starting
battery
cable4.

Use of smaller wire could lead to a fire.

If a battery selector switch is desired, con-
sult your YAMAHA dealer about correct wir-
ing.

Disconnecting the Battery
Disconnect the BLACK lead from the NEGA-
TIVE (-) terminal first. Then disconnect the
RED lead from the POSITIVE (+) terminal.

CHECKING BOLTS AND NUTS
1)
Check that bolts securing the cylinder
head and engine and the nut securing
the flywheel are tightened with their
specified tightening torque.
2)
Check the tightening torque of other
bolts and nuts.
