CARRYING AND TRANSPORTING
Before you shut the engine off for the last time dur-
ing your outing, close the fuel shut-off valve and the
fuel tank vent screw. Run the engine until it quits.
Doing so will minimize the potential for fuel leakage
when you lay the engine down.
1
After removing the engine from the boat, hold it up-
right until the cooling system stops draining before
you lay it down for carrying.
IMPORTANT: Whenever the engine is horizontal,
keep its powerhead higher than the gearcase. Oth-
erwise, any water remaining in the exhaust passag-
es could run into the block and cause serious
damage.
