Remove the starter case  by pulling it to-     10. Prepare the engine for starting; see page
wards you.
21. Be sure  the engine is in neutral  and
that the engine  stop switch lanyard  lock
plate  is   attached  to   the  engine  stop
switch.

Turn the lever on the carburetor to oper-
ate the choke system when the engine is
cold. After the engine starts, return the le-
ver to the original position.

Install the  fuel tank bracket  by installing
the bolts.
12.
While lifting the fuel tank, insert the knot-
ted  end of  the  emergency starter  rope
into the  notch in  the flywheel  rotor and
wind the rope several turns clockwise.
NOTE:
If the rope is  too long after winding it around
the flywheel, shorten its length at the handle.

Install 2 bolts into the rear  section of the
fuel tank.

Pull the rope slowly until resistance is felt.
Give a  strong  pull straight  out to  crank
and  start the  engine.  Repeat  if neces-
sary.
