Treatment of submerged motor
If the outboard motor is submerged, immedi-
ately take it to a Yamaha dealer. Otherwise
some corrosion may begin almost immedi-
ately.
If you cannot immediately take the outboard
motor to a Yamaha dealer, follow the proce-
dure below in order to minimize engine dam-
q
Do not keep the starter motor turning
for more than 5 seconds. If the starter
motor is turned continuously for more
than 5 seconds, the battery will be
quickly discharged, thus making it im-
possible to start the engine. The starter
can also be damaged. If the engine will
not start after 5 seconds of cranking,
return the main switch to “ ” (on), wait
age.

After the engine starts, close the emer-
gency starter valve (if used), then return
the throttle to its original position.
