ADJUSTING TRIM ANGLE

Stop the engine before adjusting the
trim angle.

Be sure all people are clear of the out-
board motor when adjusting the tilt
angle, also be careful not to pinch any
body parts between the drive unit and
clamp bracket.

Use caution when trying a trim position
for the first time. Increase speed gradu-
ally and watch for any signs of instabili-
ty or control problems. Improper trim
angle can cause loss of control.

Stop the engine.
Place the tilt-lock lever in the release
position.

Hold the rear of the top cowling with
one hand and tilt the engine to the
desired angle.
Place the tilt-lock lever back into the
lock position to support the engine.
To raise the bow (“trim-out”), tilt the
engine up.
To lower the bow (“trim-in”), tilt the
engine down.
Make test runs with the trim set to differ-
ent angles to find the position that works
best for your boat and operating condi-
tions.
